Under-14s should not be held responsible for their actions and should never be locked up in children’s homes or young offender institutions, according to The Prison Reform Trust. The trust’s report calls for the age of criminal responsibility to be raised from 10 to 14, claiming that incarceration does not act as a deterrent in under-14s, since 75% of young criminals reoffend within a year of being released. Do you agree?

I think they should raise the age to 14 but when they reach that age the penalty should be much tougher.  I think three offences no matter how small then they should go into national service.  This wil instill discipline and provide boundaries to our ever increasing disrespectful society.  If you are found with a weapon then it should be immediate detention into the army.

No I certainly do not agree.  A child of two knows what's right and wrong.  There is no excuse, none whatsoever, for criminal behaviour: not background, not family, not economics.  Right is right and wrong is wrong.  Break the law and you get punished, it's simple.  Remember the killers of Jamie Bulger would fall into this category.

Children know what they are doing is wrong but with the connivance of do gooders and the pc brigade they know they can get away with it.  They know all their rights but none of their duties and responsibilities.  They manipulate the system. 

Punish them if they do wrong, not mollycoddle them.

I think criminal age should be lowered,a lot of kids go out and cause trouble,some teens carry knives. No i do believe we should lower the age of criminal responsibility. a lot of under 14 are known to carry a knife or a gun ,because they believe they are below the age of criminal responsibility, and will not get into trouble for it. if the age is highered then more youngsters will start carrying because they know they would not be touched.
