The name of the man who will replace McClaren after he is deservedly sacked is known to me.

I have some  good connections within the FA and the name that  keeps coming back to me is Sam Allardyce.

He was seriously considered last time round.

He would give up the job at St James's Park in a heartbeat to take the national job.

It's his life's ambition.

The Newcastle board will get compensated.

Mourinho would be the number one choice but he appears to be Barca bound.

You heard it here first.

Good grief. What an aggressive, insulting post.

I am in my early 70s now but if I was in my younger days I would box your ears off.

I boxed for Northumberland as a youngster and packed a very potent left hook.

You are very fortunate to hide behind the anonymity of the internet.

I will re-iterate Sam Allardyce is the man.

Hooray Henry

Are you saying that Barwick has finally come to his senses and right an obvious wrong? Mourinho refused Valencia, Tottenhamt will he refuse England?

I hope we ditch that T*at McClaren before its too late, bring on Jose.

NB Jose would win Liverpool the premiership, thats what my american sources tell me

I'm just a bit worried about Sam after he appeared on the Panorama "bung" programme.  Also, he would have to give TV interviews rather than sending out his no 2 like he did at Bolton and now Newcastle ever since that programme.

So many people are easily swayed. They read something in the papers or see an advert and like sheep are easily led. Every England manager since the 70's has been slated by the press. Reaching semi finals, winning games 1-0, they still take a battering. It doesn't matter what the England manager acheives he is on a hiding to nothing. We know we would like to be the best but so does every footballing nation and now there are more of those than ever before. If maclaren does get the sack or resigns the next manager will still get the same treatment from the media. Every nook and cranny about there lives will exploited. I for one hope Maclaren sticks it out Just to say up yours to the media. Maclaren is one of the best managers in England but our choice of quality is lacking compered to a lot of other countries. Best paid playersbut not the best players i'm afraid.
